Frequently Asked Questions
Many of our customers tend to ask us the same questions, so we bundled those questions together onto this page and answered them all at once. We hope we can address any concerns you have. You can call us at (877) 504-8300 or simply reach out to us through ourcontact form. One of our salespersons will ask you a few questions to assess the situation and then give you a very rough quote so that you have some idea as to the cost of our luxury railings. Should you be fine with the rough number we quote you, we'll schedule an appointment to come over, take measurements, and show you some lovely samples.
Yes. We build all our railings from scratch according to your needs.
We mainly work with aluminum (6061 & 6063 alloys), but we also work with iron and stainless steel from time to time.
We finish all our products viapowder coatinginstead of liquid paint. Compared to liquid paint, a powder-coated finish tends to be much more durable and resilient to nicks and scratches.
Mostly yes. Aluminum railings are corrosion-resistant, so they will not rust. It doesn't prevent them from getting dirty, but some water and/or basic cleaner solution will take care of any dirty spots that may form on these railings over time.
As for the powder-coated finish, we only use dry powders that have been shown to be absolutely reliable. It's one of the reasons why our color selection is a bit limited - we only stick with powders that we trust.
We specialize much more in stainless steel cable and glass railings. While traditional iron railings with vertical balusters have been the backbone of the railings industry for several decades now, the world is starting to move on to more modern and cutting-edge design concepts that emphasize simplicity and visibility. Cable and glass railings are the two types of railings that stand at the forefront of this modernization movement.
We offer several standard and premium colors to our customers. Check them out below. Please note that these colors will not come through as vividly on your computer screen as they will in real life. Ask our salespeople for samples should they visit you.
Sure, but you're rolling the dice. We cannot guarantee the quality of the finish - the end result not only depends on the powder coating process (which we control), but it also depends on the nature of the powder we're working with (something we don't control). The standard colors we offer derive from powders that we can personally vouch for through years of experience. We couldn't extend that same assurance for powders that haven't been vetted by us.
Using a smallcore drill, we drill holes into the ground several inches deep so that we can place the posts that will support the railings. Any gaps in the holes are then filled with a specialized cement that will not expand or contract regardless of the weather. The cement only takes up to one hour to fully dry and lock the posts into place.
Of course, we will NOT be using a core drill if the railings need to be anchored into wood or somewhere inside a building. Instead, we use screws. Screws are welded through base plates that are welded onto the bottom of the posts.
Yes. We guarantee that the railings will be designed to abide by all state regulations. We also guarantee our railings will pass any inspections. We've wrapped up roughly 300 projects from 2017 to 2019 - we've only run into inspection concerns on 4 of those projects. And in our opinion...the inspectors that gave us hassle on those 4 jobs must have been having some really bad days when they came to survey our work.
Quite a few - it's a blessing and a curse.
To make things easier for you (and for us), we're in the process of simplifying our offerings. In general, we plan on having about a dozen standard types of railings for sale. Specific parts of the railings can be modified and customized on request, but the starting point for design negotiations will start with you picking a railing from a fixed product line-up.
Made in America, from our facilities here in New Jersey. All of our metal components are sourced in the United States as well.
Yes, we handle every aspect of the job from start to finish. We promise not to introduce any third parties into the mix. Everybody you meet in the process will be an employee of Metro Railings.
Yes, we can install railings during the wintertime. Just give us a bit more time to deal with cold weather conditions.
And yes, we will refuse to install railings on days when it's raining heavily or snowing. Heavy rain or snow can potentially lead to hazardous working conditions for our installation crews.
Sure, we can.
It depends on our current backlog of orders and the complexity of the job. When we go to take measurements of the space where you want railings, we can give you an estimated timeline. Should you need the railings as soon as possible, we can rush orders for an additional fee.
Generally speaking, regular jobs take between 1-3 weeks to fulfill. Larger jobs, especially for new developments, will have their own custom timelines worked out.
Yes, we are. We have business liability, workman's compensation, and auto insurance in effect at all times.
Yes, we handle both residential and commercial work.
Generally, we serve Central Jersey, North Jersey, and the five boroughs of New York City. We are willing to take jobs farther out depending on the magnitude of the job.
For standard jobs, we price by foot. For jobs that require complicated decorations or curves, we may add fees to the price to account for the added complexity of the work. These fees will be discussed in person when we come to take measurements.
We guarantee all our work abides by state-level code. We also provide a lifetime warranty on the aluminum material we use in our railings. Lastly, we also extend a 1-year limited warranty on any powder coating we apply to the railings, BUT only for colors that we offer as standard colors. Any colors that we consider non-standard will carry no warranty.
